Credit System in Australia:

What is a Credit System?

The answer is that a credit system uses a methodical approach to assign credits to the various parts of an educational programme in order to describe it. In higher education institutions, credits may be defined based on a variety of factors, including student workload, learning outcomes, and contact hours. A course credit, sometimes known as a "unit," is a common unit of measurement for student effort. In other words, institutions use it as a standard approach for defining the amount of hours of study time that a student is required to devote to finishing a course. This learning activity may involve a variety of methods, including lectures, lab work, assignments, self-study, online learning, etc. . Norms for the relative credits of various courses have been developed. Using the credit system, an institute can set the needed Credit load for specific programmes and courses. This in turn paints a clear picture of the amount of study time a student will need to devote to both the individual courses and the programme as a whole.

The credit score of Australian universities range between 6-8. In order to complete your bachelor's degree one needs 144 credits and 96 credits to complete your Masters programme. Though it may also vary according to the university/college/institution chosen.
